MISSION STATEMENT

CUW will empower all students to excel in their lives and chosen careers through integrated teaching, learning, research, innovation, community service, and experience.

VISION

As a sustainable centre of immersive learning, the City University of Windhoek (CUW) will provide Africa and the world a set of trained professionals who will, through STEAM education, transform society by continual innovation in education, research, and entrepreneurship.

OBJECTIVES

City University of Windhoek (CUW) is a Green university and subscribes to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education. To this end, the objectives of the University are as follows –

To:

1. Cultivate a culture and an environment of innovation and creativity and integrate sustainability principles into the curriculum across the board to stimulate innovative solutions to problems within the Namibian society and beyond.

2. Nurture sustainable practices across the board by reducing energy consumption and implementing waste reduction strategies.

3. Integrate green technology and infrastructure into campus facilities for sustainable solutions and encourage students to engage in innovative approaches to environmental challenges.

4. Empower entrepreneurial spirit. Equip students with the skills and resources to transform ideas into feasible projects thus enhancing a culture of entrepreneurship and social innovation with a view to contributing to economic development and social progress.

5. Cultivate interdisciplinary research excellence in fundamental, applied, and environmental fields to drive technological, social developments, and environmental sustainability and, above all, to achieve scholarly attainment and research output.

6. Promote interdisciplinarity to nurture innovation and creativity; thus, encouraging students to deal with problems from multiple perspectives.

7. Forge global partnerships with leading academic and professional institutions and organisations, research centres, start-ups, and industry stakeholders to facilitate knowledge exchange, collaboration, and technology transfer.

8. Through internships/experiential learning and workshops, enable students to become sustainability leaders and enhance community engagement to identify challenges, and together, create innovative means with which to address such challenges and contribute to societal progress.  

9. Encourage a culture of lifelong learning, continuing professional development or continuous improvement and provide opportunities for the attainment of this ideal, and, in this way, empowering individuals to adapt to technological and social changes.

10. Re-skill, re-tool, and upskill individuals to enable them to discern the benefits of innovation and creativity and the application of this thought process to their learning and realisation of their relevance to society.

11. Be a model institution and share best practices, research findings, and successes to foster societal change towards a greener future.

12. Immerse students in programmes of quality in arts and social sciences so that as rotund and responsible individuals equipped with skills needed by society, and being aware, in addition, of environmental degradation, they can both innovatively and creatively contribute to the betterment of humanity.
